Celebrating Ontic’s Growth & Success at Gloucestershire Airport

Thursday May 07, 2026

Ontic’s state-of-the-art facility in the Meteor Business Park (owned by Gloucestershire Airport) in Staverton has grown at an impressive pace—not only in scale, but in its impact on the wider aerospace community at Gloucestershire Airport.

The original team of 95 people has expanded to over 350, reflecting both sustained investment and the increasing demand for the specialist capabilities delivered out of this 65,000 sqf ft facility. Ontic is well-positioned to draw from the talent pool being fostered out of Cheltenham’s Science and Technology Education and Training Colleges and Schools.

Today, Ontic Staverton stands as a key manufacturing hub supporting several of the world’s leading aerospace organizations, including British Airways, Airbus, the UK Ministry of Defence, Emirates, and many more. From precision components to highly engineered assemblies, the work carried out here plays a vital role in keeping aircraft operating safely and efficiently across the globe. This growth has positioned Ontic as an integral part of the Gloucestershire Airport’s thriving ecosystem—contributing not only to local employment, but also to the broader reputation of Staverton as a centre of aviation excellence.

One of the unique aspects of the Staverton site is its proximity to the airfield itself, being its only location situated directly alongside an active runway operation. Hence this offers a daily, visible connection between the manufacturing on-site and real-world application. Seeing aircraft take off and land just moments from where components are built provides a powerful reminder of the purpose behind the work.

For many employees, this close link to aviation in action reinforces a shared sense of pride and accountability—knowing that what they produce contributes directly to aircraft flying safely around the world. Being neighbours with the Jet Age Museum has also benefitted both companies greatly, by collaborating on a number of initiatives in recent years.

The site’s success is also strengthened by its close relationship with Ontic’s sister facilities in Bishops Cleeve and Tewkesbury, both located within a convenient 20-minute drive. This regional cluster enables seamless collaboration across teams, with expertise, resources, and innovation flowing easily between locations.

Beyond its operational achievements, Staverton’s growth reflects Ontic’s broader commitment to investing in people, capability, and long-term partnerships. The expansion of the workforce has brought new skills and opportunities to the area, while ongoing development initiatives ensure employees continue to grow alongside the business. This people-first approach underpins the site’s continued momentum and helps maintain the exacting standards expected by global aerospace customers.

Emma Jenkins, Site Director at Ontic Staverton, commented:
“The transformation we’ve seen at Staverton over the past few years has been remarkable. What makes this site so special is not just the unique work we do within Ontic’s portfolio, but the pride our team takes in the work they do every day. Our colleagues really enjoy being located so close to the airport and seeing all the planes flying over and it’s great to be part of the hub of aerospace businesses based here…especially when everyone meets for a drink or two at the Airport based pub, The Aviator!”

As Gloucestershire Airport continues to highlight the strength of its partners and tenants, Ontic’s Staverton site stands as a clear example of what sustained investment, collaboration, and purpose-driven work can achieve. From its rapid growth in headcount to its critical role in supporting leading aerospace operators, the site has firmly established itself as a cornerstone of the airport’s success story—and its trajectory shows no signs of slowing down.
