TEMPORARY AIRPORT CLOSURE ALLOWING MAJOR ATC UPGRADE - NOVEMBER '25

Thursday October 02, 2025

Press Release - October 2025

Gloucestershire Airport to Temporarily Close for Major ATC Upgrade
£500,000 investment marks key milestone in modernisation programme

Gloucestershire Airport will temporarily close from 3–6 November inclusive to enable the completion of a major £500,000 upgrade to its Air Traffic Control systems.

This investment forms part of the airport’s ongoing commitment to enhancing operational efficiency and safety. While management acknowledges the short-term disruption this closure may cause, the project will deliver long-term benefits to operators and stakeholders across the aviation community.

During the closure period, a LIMITED number of indemnity movements will be available for "homebased" operators on 3rd and 4th November. On 5th and 6th November, however, the airport will be fully closed between 08:00 and 16:00 local time, with no indemnity access permitted. This is to allow for critical live equipment testing, including broadcasting and airfield activities.

A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Airport said:
"We recognise the inconvenience this temporary closure may cause and would like to thank our operators for their understanding and continued support. The completion of this ATC upgrade represents a significant milestone in ensuring the airport is well equipped to meet future operational demands."

Gloucestershire Airport looks forward to welcoming operators back following the works, confident that the upgrade will provide lasting improvements for all users.
